** Sarah Palin: 10 things we've learnt **
Seven days on from Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's eruption into the arena of US presidential politics, we look at 10 things we've found out about the Republicans' vice-presidential nominee.
Here's my 5-minute response:
Oh god. If these are the only things we know about her, we're doomed.
Ten things I want to know:
What's your plan for improving schools in the US. What did you do in Alaska?
What's your opinion about whether or not we should invest in alternative energy sources, while still relying on domestic and foreign oil.
What should the federal government do about the credit problems people are facing? Should government programs be set up to help home owners find new loans with lower interest rates?
How are you going to balance the differing interests around the country. Alaska has one set of concerns. What about people in Tennessee, Alabama or South Carolina? Do their needs differ?
What's your opinion about diplomacy? what kind of conversations, if any, should we be having with China, Russia, Georgia?
How can this country respond better to natural disasters?
Would you recommend that we continue federally funded research and developement in the space program, in biotechnology, in the health issues.
How would you go about looking for Supreme Court justices (if elected, your administration might get to appoint two).
What's your opinion on the level of civic involvement by Americans in in their local, state and federal goverments. Does anything need to change?
How are you going to address the needs of the veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. What do we, as the people, owe them? What responsibilites do federal and state governments have?
