Oh my! Rodney's distress at not knowing the extent of John's injuries and his ability to conjure up six worst case scenarios, each more terrifying than the last...

But the best part?

John needed to learn how to be a proper convalescent. Or at least be more grateful that Rodney had taken time off work to play nursemaid. The first day after the surgery, he’d been content to stay on the couch, letting Rodney fetch him drinks and ice packs and TV remotes and golf magazines, but the next day, he wanted to get up and take care of himself. Never mind the fact that John was clearly incapable of taking care of himself. Rodney was never letting him out of the apartment again. This just made my heart sing!

Thank you! He wouldn't be Rodney if he couldn't conjure up the worst case scenarios. It's a special gift!

The story was originally from John's POV, but as I was halfway and had spent almost the entire story cursing the boredom of convalescense, I realised it might be a little too close to home and decided to change it. So Rodney got the honour to channel my dear Gran instead... Without the porn, of course, because that would be gross and wrong even for me.

Sometimes POV just *has* to change, but everything is grist for the mill, isn't it? It's a little shocking how something horrible can happen to me or a friend and after the initial shock I find myself thinking 'I bet there's a story in here somewhere'. I try to tell myself I bet that's how photographers see the world--everything, no matter how good, bad or ugly is a picture of some sort...

I call it 'Writer's disease', that tendency to view life as a story instead of a life... It does make you a bit detached sometimes :)

John is so hot with Rodney - and I enjoy all the porny bits & pieces in your stories. But the best part is Rodney taking his fear out on the cat, and then “Yes, yes, I’m sorry, but I have to find them!” apologizing! (I love all the Rodneys out there, and all his various cats.)

This is lovely! I love Rodney accusing Newton & then apologizing to him, too, & the way the hospital run hooks straight into his terror from John's earlier hospitalization & the terror keeps echoing in his head for days, blindsiding him with a new wave of fear any time John moves. Both of them need keepers, honestly! It's a very good thing that Rodney's there to nurse & coddle & browbeat John back to health (& that John looks past Rodney's control-freaking to the just-plain-freaking behind it ;-).

Oh, & it's an ever-so-tasty nibble of hot boy-lovin' too, of course! Makes me just stare at the monitor for a bit & contemplate how Rodney really will need to tie John down & exhaust him when John feels a little better & starts overdoing again.... >:->
