In which Zin might be over-analysing stuff...

What is it with my shows and dropping buildings on people? Now I'm just expecting the season finale of Supernatural to end with Sam and Dean trapped under a collapsed building as well...

But back to Torchwood. Sadly no naked boykissing in this ep. But at least there was clothed almost!boykissing...

I found Fragments interesting. We got some backstory for characters we don't know much about. We also got to see Jack with sideburns, a sight that I could happlily have lived my life without...

The two stories that got to me the most were Ianto's (not much of a surprise there.) and Owen's.

So. 'Jones, Ianto Jones.'  Another look at pre-Cyberwoman Ianto and he's so desperate it hurts. Prepared to do anything to get into Torchwood Three, to get a chance to save his girlfriend. I wonder what exactly it was that made Jack hire him? Curiosity? Physical attraction? By the way, everyone who shares Ianto's coat-fetish, raise your hands! \o/

And Owen... that one really broke my heart. I always wondered what made him the person he is, and this story explains a lot, both about Owen himself and the love/hate relationship he seems to have with Jack. Even though Jack wasn't directly responsible for the death of Owen's fiancé, he was involved. On the other hand, Jack also gave him the chance to do something to prevent it from happening again, to save lives. And I think that is one of the most defining traits in Owen's character - the need to save lives. He's so weighed down with the burden of other people's wellbeing and still, he never stops, never gives up. This is a man who literally fought off Death.  Even his own death couldn't stop him from being a doctor. He's similar to Gwen in that manner, only there's an exhaustion to Owen that Gwen is yet missing. Gwen concentrates on the situation in front of her. Owen knows that it doesn't matter how many people he saves - there'll always be another and another and another. He can't afford Gwen's compassion, but he doesn't give up either and I think that's what makes me like him as a character - the way he keeps fighting against overwhelming odds.

I also think it's interesting to see the change in Owen's style. From slick suits to jeans and leather jackets, like he felt the need to re-invent himself after joining Torchwood. Make a new life and forget the old one, only the hurt shines through and he tries to cover it up by being a jerk.

Jack and Toshiko's stories were less interesting to me. As for Jack, I spent most of it wincing at the sideburns (and being strangely turned on by the sadistic Torchwood ladies. What's wrong with me?). The interesting thing about Tosh is, I think, the manner in which she was recruited. The rest of them got to make an active choice (well, maybe not Jack, but he could have chosen to walk away). Tosh did not get that choice and that puts her relationship with Jack in an interesting light. She's indebted to him and to Torchwood in a way the others aren't and that also explains a few things about her character.

Now I want to know how Suzie joined!

As for the clothed almost!boykissing...

Guess that tells us who's the top, huh? *supports top!Ianto*

And now I'm in the mood for writing Janto porn again... Which I do not have time for.
