B-but... ME?

I just couldn't believe it...
Yesterday was Mum's and my last day in Access, and it was just us, Carol and Valerie, who were both Mum's friends and usually come in on Friday's anyway. Considering last week was so busy, Mum was expecting more people to come in to say goodbye, including at least come people from IRD other than me. The fact we were leaving wasn't the only reason she was annoyed though.
I got Volunteer of the Month.
It was completely unexpected, especially since Mum had been around longer and Carol and Valerie were going on about how much they'll miss her and everything she did for them (and Mum was complimenting them right back). All I've done is sort out the horrendously messy Brochure Drawer and make a start on finding counterparts in the database, Daisy.
We also got going away gifts, including cards. Mum got a pretty Christmas decoration and I got a box of Belgian chocolates. :D Yum!

Wednesday was Sinterklaas. We weren't celebrating it this year, but even so Mum bought the usual chocolate letters (milk A, B and E, white A and then whatever two letters Mum and Dad get for themselves) and wrote 'poems' for them.
Mine read:

How will I write my story now?
I have spent much time
Here in my room
Writing a lovely tale
Everyone says it is great
But I doubt them
I don't agree
Now I have to vacate my room
Where will I write my book?
Thank goodness they haven't sold my desk!
The talented author is...

The selling desk referance was to poor unfortunate Brother, who had twenty minutes notice that Mum had sold his desk/table and he had to clear it for the buyers. The story referance is probably to The Unlucky Fairy, Jasmine, who I've been trying to write a story about for ages now. Unfortunately Writer's Block hit me hard and I haven't been able to touch it, despite promising to have it done before we left. That's kinda impossible now...

We're closing down the wireless network tomorrow, before we leave, so that will be my last stay here until whenever we get it back up in Brisbane. We don't know when that is, but with extreme luck it will be back before Christmas. Or maybe New Year. My birthday, perhaps?
