Any of the horsey people on my flist have any heads up with the equestrian events schedule? Looks like they're starting right away first thing in the morning. It's always SUPER impossible to catch Dressage every year, and I'm always kinda annoyed by it. You'd think by virtue of London hosting in a pretty accessible place this year, it'd get better coverage, so I'm crossing my fingers for that.
I'm super amused how archery is suddenly a relevant sport for coverage again. Coincidence? I told The Sis the archery club of america must have said, LET'S BE RELEVANT AGAIN! Release three movies with archery plots in three months before the olympics!
ETA: LALALALALA!!! THE JAM OPENS THE MUSIC SEQUENCEEEEEE!!! Maybe now Americans can understand who the hell they are? Yea probably not. :(
I thought the Industrial Revolution sequences was really well done but sorta seriously sad the way they literally stripped away the grass and trees. Exchanging nature for soot. Not very happy. I did think they did a very nice thinky turn into creation of warfare and destruction from that which I was impressed by.
Mary Poppins vanishes Giant Voltemort! THAT WAS TRIPPY AND CRAZY AND CREEPY! Took me a while to realize the hospital sickness metaphor.
The torch lighting was SUPERRR awesome. I was trying to figure out where the torch was, I thought it might be in the tree which I thought would be alittle weird. All the little lights on that center thing coming together was a REALLY neat visual. All the visuals were top notch, well-done Danny Boyle and music directors. The UK team walking out to Bowie's Heroes? I MEAN REALLY, HOW KICKASS IS THAT? (Favorite Bowie song right here!)
And every opening ceremonies wishes it could close that warm and smushy and full of love. All you need is 10 rounds of Hey Jude and an emotional Paul McCartney. By the end the whole stadium was just like *SNIFF SNIFF* *WIPES TEAR* GROUP HUG EVERYONE!!!
