Oh, no, trust me. I don't think they haven't forgotten their past, that past layered on top of this is what makes it all the more interesting. My observation is more on the level of, OH BOYS. Because they don't get the narrative we got, and Cas doesn't offer it up, so their reactions are purely a springboard of hurt and betrayal and thus risk making an enemy out of a friend. There's a meta somewhere in there on masculinity and the inability to communicate effectively to the people your closed to. Dean's reaction to Cas was eerily on par with S4 and finding out about Sam's own activities, and I think that is absolutely intentional. There is just as much a story in the brothers reaction as there is on Cas's wrongdoings. It's fallible human beings (and other beings) fucking up despite their original intentions, and how choice while beautiful is also nasty as hell, and I thought the plot displayed all of that PERFECTLY.

So yea, perhaps judgmental might not quite be the word I'm looking for, it was 3am in the morning when I wrote it, but the comicalness I find in it is a good chuckle, not in any way shaking fists! XD
