Echoes and silence, patience and grace
All of these moments, I’ll never replace
No fear of my heart, absence of faith
All I want, is to be Home
Let’s not even talk about how in the hell I end up vidding ANOTHER Winchester vid to a song called ‘Home’. Seriously, God, what are you trying to do to me?
QUICK COMMENTS:
I knocked this out in hours, fixed it up in a day, processed it in another. Just a little vidlet of Sam’s quiet determination and nostalgic celebratory mourning. If there is such a thing. Arose out of thoughts from
THIS POST when I last watched the pilot. Mostly Sam's 'Home' exchange with Constance and his obsession with control.
I’ve been searching for a song do a Sam vid to all year. This is NOT that vid. (I can not BELIEVE I actually vidded a piano ballad. To SAM of all things. *facepalm*)
Instead this is an...exercise, really. An experiment of sorts. I wanted something that I could play around with completely visually and work with some colors to get a sharper, brighter picture than I had in the past.
My first full length vid relied too rigidly on structure, plot, the IDEA. And it suffered visually. I did ‘Home’ with very clear idea, but made myself loosen that up in order to work on it visually abit more. Still, both of them, before I laid ONE clip, I knew almost clip by clip, lyric by lyric, note by note what I would be lying down. THIS ONE? I had no idea what I was doing. Quite literally, out of curiosity, I cut up the song to the part I like, spliced another little bit together, was surprised how much it worked, and sitting there with only pilot and finale clips cut, proceeded to throw things together and see what they looked like. The concrete concept arose out of playing with that. So it was really a different way of approaching vidding for me.
The end concept that resulted, there actually are a number of further things I would have liked to work with, bringing in other episode clips, to tighten things up to my OCD liking. But I kinda wanted to keep this a S3-finale-Sam’s Pilot look back, and so I resisted and kept it simple, as is.
I hope you all can enjoy! Any comments or feedback you could give would be more than appreciated!
