This will be an interesting summer. Stacey is gone for the summer, and that is tough, but I'm sure it will be do-able. It is tough, but we'll both be pretty busy. The trouble will come when I'm not busy. I sat in my apartment, slowly cleaned it today. It was a beautiful day, and wanted to get out and do something. I called a couple of people, who were busy with other things today. I soon realized, and it finally hit me that the friends I've had here for the past 2.5 years...are gone. They've graduated. I went through my cell phone book and noted that my contact list for hanging out is significantly smaller since graduation.
I know that I still have friends from the past two years of school....but I've never been closer to a group as I was with the class that I was with my first semester here. I have no trouble making friends and meeting people, but it is still unsettling. I finally got a hold of the Bakers though, and we're going to Portillos for hot dogs and chocolate cake, so that, I'm grateful for! I have many friends I'm grateful for...many are sooo far away, including you....Mark.
In unrelated news, completely unrelated, although kind of tying in with the "abandonment" feeling of today....Brittany's goldfish...one that I was holding in my tank for the summer died while I was showering this morning. I also noticed my snail was moving more today..although I never saw it move. I then looked at the tank and saw the snail just shoot up from the ground to one corner of the tank, than flail around with the current of the water, then sucked into the filter. I took the snail out, and it smelled badly. It, too...has passed.
Not to sound mean or anything, but why can't my bird do that? It has been so obnoxious lately...I can barely stand it. I now punish it by putting it in my room alone for awhile...and it gets quiet, but now it's not liking me soo much. It has a "hissy" fit, if you can say that.
Ok...hotdogs and chocolate cake...here I come. Isn't it funny that I'm going to eat chocolate cake with the "Bakers?" :)
