I like your entries, they make me think.

As for the first part, you can't go through life without a little bit of contradictions and hypocrisy (sp?). It's impossible. It comes down to situational ethics. Don't worry about such details as much as just being a good person, if thats how you choose to be. I think you do a pretty much very good job at that.

As for the tacky ribbons, I have mixed feelings... Firstly, I am against war generally, but mostly the kind that's unnecessary and totally an act of bullying. That being said, I think "supporting our troops" is different than "supporting dubya's war". I guess I can see how people want to represent the fact that they are supporting our troops, while also supporting our troops comin' home. Three words can't describe how most people feel about whats going on over in eye-rack.

I still agree with you that they're not aesthetically pleasing at all.

As for joining the service being "an awful decision", I think that's a little overboard. I won't get into it, but I can only assume that you didn't mean it the way I read it.

Sorry I wrote a novel in your LJ.

novels are fine. I read 'em when I can. uhh i guess i'm just ranting and yeah I think war is pretty lame and I know that sounds real naive but basically I know why we're STILL there but I dont think we needed to go there in teh first place. Its more that now that we've done one or two no nos.. (many more than one or two), we're sorta stuck.

and maybe its a little exagerated about the 'awful decicion" but I'm pretty sure I think its a wicked stupid idea to join any part of the service because you're supporting this bullshit in some way. I have a coupple cousins over there and although i love them and hope them to come out alive...i definetly think its alomost the "easy" way out except that its really shitty and an awful life. then again..i'm not there so maybe its a vacation for 'em. who knows!!! i think its the dumbest way to solve a problem.

Well, joining the service in general I see as a good thing. It shows that you're willing to die defending your country. Unfortuneately, the people dying in our military now are not doing so defending anything, except the Bush name. That makes me downright fucking sick.

Would you consider civilian employees of the military to be supporting the current war? Or would that depend on what type of work they do?
