I'm not sure why I'm posting
I guess it's fitting to post an update, 5 years after the last one.
We are a little under two weeks from moving to the one state I swore I'd never live again, Texas.
Michigan has pretty much become home to me, I didn't think I would grow attached because I knew this would be a temporary place but I did.
Call me crazy but I am going to miss the drive into Detroit everyday. There's a moment, no matter where you are driving in from, as you are driving around and over burned out buildings, rubble and what looks to be a war zone, that the living city becomes visible. The larger buildings that have been redone, the new ones that have gone up create a nice contrast to the old.
Everyone here has a story to tell and the city itself has many. Sometime soon, when I can gather my thoughts I'll write a little post about our time up here, but right now I'm a little too scatterbrained.
In other news, we had our 7 year anniversary a few weeks ago, still have our trio of terror cats. My s/o is almost done with his PhD, which is awesome for him. This move is related to some research he's going to be doing as the last little bit of his degree is completed. We're not sure how long we'll be in Texas, but hopefully it will just be a transitory thing. My heart is still in the Pacific Northwest, and there is a university up there that seems to be hiring a lot of new people for the same field my s/o is in.
