Another year, another trip to UK

It's almost time to pack for my big road trip, yay!

For the last six years I've managed to travel to London five times, to see so many wonderful things and to meet several of my favourite actors. I didn't write here about the last trip in July 2010, when we went with a few friends to London Film And Comic Con and met William Shatner, Katee Sackhoff, late Elisabeth Sladen, Matt Lewis, William B. Davis, two Darth Vaders and many more stars. Katee was sweet, Shatman is still the best and my eye-sex experience with Cigarette Smoking Man is stuff of legends :-)

During those eleven days in London we were lucky to see a Broadway production of Hair with cast that won Tony Award for the best revival. So intense and interactive show and at the end we could run up to the stage and sing "Let the Sunshine" with the actors. I was dancing all the way back to the hostel. When we managed to buy tickets for The Secret of Sherlock Holmes just five minutes before it started, I was wondering, why the play seems so familiar. Later I remembered that this play was written for Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwicke and they toured with it in eighties. We were also extremely lucky when visiting Windsor. Quite by a chance, I've spotted a flyer for the play Country Girl with Martin Shaw from The Professionals, another of my long time favourite actors. I didn't enjoy the plot much, almost nothing substantial happened there, but he was awesome and gave us autographs. And the highlight at the end of our trip was the magnificent Doctor Who Prom with Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill. And seeing Steven Moffat and his family just a few meters from us, coincidentally on the day when the first episode of Sherlock aired. So, overall the trip was a big success.

Which brings me to this year. When they announced in January that David Tennant will reunite with Catherine Tate in Much Ado About Nothing, we didn't hesitate and bought tickets for 13 people. Quite a big group, but nothing compared to those two buses from Lithuania, of which we heard. The waiting was too long, but this Friday it ends and I hope we'll enjoy the play immensely. On Saturday we plan to visit the new Doctor Who Experience, my third after Cardiff and London in 2008. But what I am looking forward the most is the subsequent trip to Wales - 14 days, rented car, tent, two friends and trying to see as many sights and Doctor Who, Torchwood and Merlin filming locations as possible.

Let's hope my next entry will be posted from the trip. See ya!
