Over the past year and a half, we've had three bird nests on our house. A pewee nest on the front porch, a house sparrow nest in the ivy out back, and a wren nest in a hanging basket. All three ended poorly for the baby birds. An ornithologist friend offered up several reasons why this happened, all of which are equally possible.
Anyhow, we now have a cardinal nest in the roses out back. I really, really hope the babies survive.
Also, deer ate my pansies. All of them.
