Okay, all done?
Now, nearly two years later, the drama is over.
In the drama that (I thought!) had ended back then, Earthlink charged me late fees and paper invoice fees for a product I had never ordered, never received, did not want, and never even remotely ordered. It was an antivirus package that they tried to sell me for $5. Then, they charged me $1 per invoice for a paper invoice, and $1 per month I refused to pay it. The original charge was taken off without issue, but getting the initial $1 and all subsiquent monies off my bill was a hassle on the level of, say, clearing one’s credit or getting a job at a bank. In the end, Mrs. Springer, my lovely wife, had to deal with them because I had turned red in the face and could barely speak because of the level of stupidity of their operators.
Today, there was a surprise in the mail. A seven dollar check, in an Earthlink envelope. There was no letter attached, and no indication on the check as to why they sent it, so I am assuming that, after two years, they are finally admitting that they were wrong, in their own way.
I feel like I have just been handed an apology by the Catholic Church for excommunicating my great-grandfather.
