Quick summary of the past week or so:
♦ Went to the hospital to visit
xingou and got to see her baby. He's cuuute! And good too. Didn't cry much (unlike the other baby in the same hospital room) and has a strong neck so he's already turning his head here and there to check his surroundings out.
♦ I've discovered that NYC buses are 1) slow, and 2) good guides. I took the Q26 from Flushing to the hospital, but on my way back, decided to backtrack by walking instead. Lo and behold, less than 3 minutes after my decision, a Q26 came out of nowhere and, taking all the bus stops and traffic lights into consideration, was going at about the same speed as my walking pace. It led me all the way to Roosevelt Ave. before it finally passed me for good. So I saved $2, got some exercise, and didn't get lost because the bus was there to show me where to go *g*
♦ 'Twas a weekend of meeting friends. Met up with
countouttheday and two visiting friends at
Angelica's Kitchen on Saturday. I ordered some burrito-like seitan wrap, which was yummy. I wanted to meet up with
so_severus and
sparkly_stuff too but couldn't reach them. Will definitely visit
so_severus though, if only to see her new kittens ;)
♦ Went to the New York Aquarium yesterday. It was totally on a whim, one of those "it's Labor Day, what should I do?" things. I got to see all sorts of sea creatures, but the
Longhorn Cowfish caught my attention - it looks so much like
The Cheat from Homestar Runner!
♦ I bought
my own shiny espresso machine today! Starbucks is having a large scale equipment sale and the Barista is going for $99.99, which I got for less with my partner discount. I was all excitement and grins carrying the big box from my store back to my apartment *g*
Now back to my regularly scheduled overworked self. Blah...
