Grandmother: "I don't know why your mother always has to lie."
Me: "Gee, I wonder. Could it be pathologically conditioned into us as a defense mechanism against your bitching?"
My mother does it, I do it, my grandmother's sister and brother did it, my grandfather's learned to do it...There's a common denominator here, I'm just saying.
We know Grandmother will bitch anyway. But lying puts it off until later, and contains it as one lump sum of bitching.
It's like ripping a band-aid, seriously.
