Not that I'm complaining...(possible TMI)
The gyn who sent me to the surgeon who did my hysterectomy mentioned that even though my ovaries are now gone, I may not need HRT and may not have the usual menopause symptoms. OK, I can definitely go with that! It's been about 6 weeks, and I don't know what to expect, but so far I seem to be just fine. Aside from residual tenderness in the belly area, of course, but that IS expected. And itching on the scars!!!!!
Apparently the big board of gyns-- whoever makes the rules for when you need to do what -- has decided that pelvics and paps are needed only every 5 years if your past results are all normal. Same for mammograms, per that board.
And if you don't have a cervix anymore, there are no pap smears! Yay!
