Spidery Snape
The little theory center of my brain has been working OT since I realized today that JKR has used spider references for Snape since Book 1. Like all these:
“ensnare the senses”
silky voice
“walked in a twitchy manner reminiscent of a spider” and had skinny legs in S.W.M.
lives at Spinner’s End
“spidery handwriting” in HBP potions book
and more...
Lickety split, I was on Wikipedia looking up spiders and letting my mind roam. (No, I'm NOT saying he's an Animagus.)
Yeah, I happened to be doing a manual task when I made the connection between Spinners End and walking like a twitchy spider. Repetition bores the hell out of me so I tend to daydream like that.
Just throwing it out there so you can let your mind roam too...
Also, I happen to think Snape is "that awful boy" Petunia was referring to. I really don't think the awful boy was James, as is widely believed.
