Yesterday can be summarized by one word "Yuck"
So yesterday was not a good day. The day started by be my manager tell me as I got out of the car that the network was down in our building and that I shouldn't bother even going in and should just head to our other building.
Following directions I did just this. My IT team was working the asses off trying to get computer for the Ops teams to work on so that we could do our morning work. I wasn't able to even start my morning process until about 8:30am (I normally start at 7am). Trying to work on a system that has none of my shortcuts sucks big balls.
Finally around 11am they got the networking working in our building so the whole Ops teams migrated back to our home. On top of the obvious reason of inconvenience of the network down having it happen yesterday was doublely bad because it was the second business day of the month which is also the day that we close the books for the prior month which means we normally have to much work to get done anyways let alone with disturbances like the network being down.
I ended up working until just after 6pm to get everything I need to get done done.
Off to work some more now that I have ranted.
