A long time ago in a undergraduate class which I don't remember the name of, I remember a uncommonly interesting lecture on revolution and social change. I was taught that revolutions come and flame up seemingly out of nowhere... All revolutions, both good and bad have occurred in this way. These events were considered obvious when looked after the fact. Through hindsight contemporary commentators would be able to point out the cultural conditions and ideas underlying the spark which ignited the flame. Through hindsight it would seem so obvious and inevitable. The average man of his day would be oblivious till he was caught up in it, and the uncommon man would be insulted as a dreamer till the revolution was in swing. As I sat in class and considered what I was hearing, I wondered what it would have been like to have lived during one of these grand occasions... I thought of the concrete bound naysay, the false realist, the man who arrogantly exclaimed 'this is how things are, and you can't change them!' Comparing man-made facts with the laws of nature. What did that man tell himself when his world around him collapsed?
I cannot help but wonder, is this one of those times people will declare in hindsight that it was inevitable that America would have its second great revolution? That it was inevitable that Americans would rise up and demand not alms, loot, favors or whips... That it was inevitable that Americans would instead rise up and demand in unison 'Remove these chains and restore our liberty!"
Don't be a false-realist... Don't be an average person that is caught up in the tide. Be part of something just and good. Support Ron Paul and what he represents!
