But now being a writer myself, I count myself as being so blessed (I think so, anyway) to have some of the best readers ever. Encouraging, positive, uplifting. That's not to say I haven't gotten questions about why Jack reacts a certain way or how there could not possibly be any future roadblocks due to the difference in my J&E's upbringings. Luckily, except for one recent personal message, the questions have always been put very constructively and my readers don't try to push me towards specific avenues or try to change my characters any. They've been very respectful in that way.
I think there's a difference between constructive criticism to help tell a writer that there's something not believable in a chapter or conversation and basically trying to tell a writer how to write their story in a way that pleases the reader. That was my recent personal message - someone trying to tell me how to write "my" Jack.
But Hua makes a very strong, valid argument.
Hua, good gracious, after reading everything here, I must say that I feel fortunate to have not had my story sternly commented on by you, though! LOLLLLL!!! I'm pretty sensitive still, unfortunately! :/
Sorry, Ted, hope you didn't feel like you had to read all of this. I just found your comment very detailed and interesting. Didn't mean to go on so.
