Thanks - I'd been looking at an IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad, but there doesn't seem to be anything about it on Lenovo's Chinese page.

That would have been awesome! But when I think of a tablet Chinese support, Acer naturally comes up to my mind. I am 80% sure that they are the first one to design a tablet for the Chinese market. On the other hand, Lenovo may not be big on the idea of tablet at all.

By the way, I will need a PC desktop for some professional applications soon. But I am holding on to my purchase plan as long as possible to see if Lenovo would come up with any new marketing campaign in the States.

Oh, it's a real thing -- http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000480045610/ . It just doesn't seem to have shown up in China yet, or something. Alas, the price is pretty prohibitive...

Yeah, I hope that price is only for the new product introduction phase, but overall, it looks like Lenovo is adopting IBM's pricing strategy at this point. I very much believe they need a breakout to compete against Dell and HP. I do not know if IBM's many old clients would still be willing, or even allowed to, spend big bucks on Lenovo.

By the way, whenever I see a Chinese Dell ad, which brags about "quality from overseas yet at an affordable price" (国际品质,合适价格;or something like that), I can't help but laugh and think of McDonald's and KFC. No offense to anyone, but the word in my dictionary starts with a "j" and ends with "unk", for any of the three.

I've never really used Dells - the two laptops that I've had were Toshiba and IBM, respectively.

To be fair, Chinese laptops haven't been much good, compared to foreign ones, until fairly recently. I'm looking forward to seeing Lenovo make some changes there, especially if they can strike some sort of deal with Intel to get processors at lower prices.

I do not know about Intel. Lenovo does not seem to have a cozy relationship with Intel any more, largely because Lenovo's domination in the Chinese market would not serve as Intel's best interest. IBM's PC division may have given Lenovo more chips, who knows? I just can't wait to see Lenovo start attacking Dell's backyard, as Dell has done in China.

Lenovo should somehow learn from Toyota, and maybe, Hyundai more recently, to stand for both affordable price and reliability.
