Summary: Sacrificing your heart just for the person you love. Seeing them happy is enough as long as you know they are smiling. How far will you go for the person you love?
After the long day in school, Hikaru waited for Inoo at the entrance of the school to walk home with him. When Inoo came he was with Takaki. They were so engrossed in their discussion that they almost walk passed Hikaru.
“Kei-chan…” Hikaru called softly.
“Ah! Hika” Inoo looked at Hikaru. “Jaa, Yuya, mata ashita”
“Uhm. mata ne, Kei-chan. Thanks for today.”
As Takaki left, Inoo and Hikaru begin to walk off together back home.
“Both of you seemed so close in just a couple of hours” Hikaru tried to hide his sadness.
“Uhm” Inoo blushed. “We’re partners in a couple of projects”
The blushed wasn’t gone unnoticed. “I thought that smile would only be for me”
The walk home continued in silence. Hikaru was deep in his thoughts. Although his heart felt a lot of pain, he felt he still wants to enjoy those precious moment and memory with Inoo, as they are alone together and normally they will have fun talking to each other.
Inoo broke the silence. “Ne, Hika, What do you think about Takaki?”
“Ano, I think he is alright and friendly.” Hikaru replied. “Why do you ask?”
“Betsuni” Inoo replied with a smile.
Inoo was smiling to himself while looking at the pavement floor. Hikaru looked away to wipe a lone tear that escaped from his eyes.
“We’re here” they stood at Inoo’s front door. “Thanks for accompanying me back home. See you tomorrow.”
“Anything for you” Hikaru nodded. “See you tomorrow”
After seeing Inoo turned and head into his house, Hikaru slowly walked back home as he thinks about Inoo’s smile. That smile never fails to make him happy every day. As days passed, Hikaru and Inoo gradually spent less time together. Inoo was always busy with projects or too tired to head out.
That day while Hikaru was helping his mum to buy grocery, he walked past a café and noticed Inoo and Takaki eating together in the café, through the glass window.
“I thought that Kei-chan said he was busy today?” Hikaru hesitated entering the café. “Maybe they’re just discussing about their projects”
Hikaru shrugged it off and head home. The next day in school, as Hikaru was packing his bag for his next lesson, he heard his classmate called him informing him of Inoo.
“Hey Kei-chan, do you need any help from me?” Hikaru bounce to Inoo.
“Nope. Just want to tell you to wait for me today after school. Let’s go home together”
Hikaru happily agreed to Inoo’s request. Inoo head back to his class and Hikaru went back to his seat as the bell ring for the next lesson.
Hikaru was eager for lessons to end as he was able to walk home with Inoo. Just when bell rang indicating the end of lessons, Hikaru packed his stuff up and rushed to the school gate to wait for Inoo. After a few minutes of waiting at the school gate, Inoo came.
“Hey Hika, gomen… gomen... I made you wait again.” Inoo said bowing.
“Daijoubu, I just reach anyways. Let’s go home.” Hikaru replied happily.
Inoo nodded. Hikaru and Inoo walked on the same path back home, just like the usual time as they walked home together.
“Ne Hika… Actually I have something to tell you.” Inoo said softly.
“Nanze?” Hikaru replied with concern as they stopped for a while.
“It’s just… I think that…” Inoo hesitantly spoke. “I li-like Takaki”
Hikaru stood frozen in his spot as he felt a sharp stab in his heart. Although he knew about Inoo’s feelings he didn’t expect it to be more painful as he thought it would be.
It was so sudden that Hikaru had mixed emotions of shocked, anger, jealous and sadness. They stood there as silence engulfed them.
