laptop issues

My laptop battery has stop being recognized by the computer. I have a Sony VAIO, and when I click on the Power Meter, it tells me that I'm running A/C and that no battery is plugged in. When I unplug the A/C, the laptop dies right away.

Thing is, since it's summer, I haven't unplugged it for a while, so I'm not sure when this happened. (Adam - did you ever unplug the computer when you were working on it?) I know it was fine for the AMSA book drop (several weeks ago), but I don't think I've unplugged it since. Ahhhh.

I'm in Boston right now so I can't check to see if it's a similar problem with my other battery, but other than that, I'm not sure what to do. I've read that it can either be a BIOS problem (how do I reset BIOS?) or a motherboard or daughterboard problem, in which case I'm really screwed. But how do I tell?

As far as I'm concerned, this "new" laptop of mine has been a complete disaster. It's not any faster than the old one, and the only good thing is that I have more hard drive space.

Ahhhh why do electronics mess up my life??
