What will happend if I pull out my mask?

I have read a blog from an Indonesian comedian writer; he said about how hard to be a comedian to make a serious relationship, especially as a public figure. When he meet new people, have new friends, these people will expect him to be funny, because they already have the funny image from him. No one can see him as the real person.
Recently, I have felt the same. I am not a public figure, also not a comedian. I just an ordinary guy, who like to do simple things, and try to be funny when I am around the others. In fact I usually feel not confidence, get inferior feeling, and at that time I always use joke to make easy on it, I make fun anything just to make easy on me. And with this attitude, I can have a lot of acquaintances. That’s happened to when I have walked with girls.
I also doing the same things especially when I am around the girl that I like. I get so nervous and I started to speak randomly, just make fun of everything. People see me like an easygoing and funny person, but they never see my real heart. When I need to say serious think, I say it on the funny way instead, seems like joke. And you can guest the result, no one take my words so seriously.
These few weeks, I just realize, that my heart keep thinking about one girl for a year. Even I have get crush with some others girls, but the result will always back to her, I always unconsciously compare this girl with all the girls that I have crush with. But she never knows all my feeling.
Back to the time when we have together, we share togetherness as a best friend. I don’t know what she think about me, maybe just friend or closed friend, I am not quite sure. But for me, at least until today I write this, she means everything for me. I don’t know if in future I will fall in love to other girls, and in fact I hope that too, because our relationship clearly doesn’t have any future, almost impossible. We have separated thousand miles away and the fact that she just takes me as friend is the main reason for all of this.
I always wonder, what will happen to me when I throw up all the funny side and change it to the serious one? Maybe no one will recognize me again when I put off this “Garfield” mask.  And what will happened if someday I have a chance to confess to the girl that I always dreams all night, and I confess it with serious way?
I also feel curious about why people always take everything so serious? Can they get serious with the funny way? Is the funny and easy boy always referring to childish one?
