A few people, both in real-life and virtual reality, have told me that the previous picture of this woman disturbs them. They think, as I have been told, that the color on her face doesn't really work for them. I thought I was making a stylistic choice by drawing the larger sections of shadows on her and then making them all one color. So, I thought I would play around with the picture some more to see what I could get.
And now, the results are something I'm not happy with. Which is not to say that I didn't learn something about shading, because I did. I also learned a few new techniques with the GIMP program. But after spending as much time playing with the color as I did with initial drawing, I've decided to give up on it. The face is too dark, and the highlights are in the wrong places, but on the positive, it's very presence is an indication of my improvement. Still, I give this color job a D minus, as opposed to the first attempt which I can't help but feel is about a B minus.
