I cannot tell you how much I love the NP people. I can't spend a day without Alex Thomas. Seriously, that girl is perfection. It really doesn't get much better!
The 4th was nice. I hung out with Emily and my family at the Madison's for a little bit before heading out to Lone to chill on the dock. Em and I saw the fucking biggest snapping turtle ever. And we named him Fred Sparky. He was really cute...but scary, nonetheless. Then, we headed back to my house after our wonderful tanning/turtle (and creepy camera man) fiasco. We walked in the door, the phone rang, and it was Mima complaining about the "huge car accident" she was in. Her car was parked on the side of the road and the mirror fell off. That's it. We were worried she was seriously hurt, but she wasn't even in the car. Anyway, my mom, Em and I had to go rescue her from that because she really can't do anything on her own. (Side note: How sad...we are going to get old and helpless too, someday. I'm definitely not ready for that one!) Anyway...we headed home before going to Ashley's house where Cat, Brian and Alex were meeting us to go to fireworks. So! We ate at Ashley's, laughed like you wouldn't believe (Cat, your laugh will always be my fave), and left for Excelsior. We showed up at Fran's, let ourselves in...and no one was home. So, of course we drank gingerale and used his bathroom. Annnnd finally headed off on the "five minute walk" to the park. Guess what, it took like 25 minutes. Whatever, it was a good time. Well spent, indeed. Oooootay. We met up with people at fireworks, and it was fine. I guess I just expected a bigger welcome home is all, but that's selfish to expect anyway, so yeah, it was fine. Shout out to Drunk David who had been biking...drunk...for like an hour. We met him on the way home because he was really really lost. We felt sorry for him and let him follow us to the park where he was supposed to meet his friends. I know what you're thinking, how did we know which park? Lucky fucking guess. He was really funny and definitely the highlight of my night. I was supposed to sleep at Alex's house after but there was a large fight with my family which resulted in my dad picking me up at like 1:30 AM. Cool, Dad. Cool.
At 8:30 this morning, Ashley texted me...and I decided to take Alex and her out to breakfast. French Meadow Bakery is fabulous. I adore it. We ate, talked, you know...got stuck in a parking spot in which I proceeded to yell "YOU PIECE OF SHIT" at the truck driver that was blocking my way out. Quite eventful for my first full day home.
I still miss England! And jetlag is still being a bitch.
I'm going to take a nap and watch trashy reality TV.
Life is good.
