I normally use Manic Panic 'After Midnight Blue' but the guy used Special EfX (or something like that). I know they sell that at Hot Topic and the stylist said he thinks it lasts longer than Manic Panic. No matter what brand you use the staying power is also determined by how bleached out the hair is. I used to do my chunks as white as possible but I've noticed the color didn't stay as well since the hair was made so much more porous by the bleach.

Jerome Russell, Paul Mitchell InkWorks and N'Rage are all horrible- don't even waste your time with them. Also, process with heat, leave it in as long as you can and try not to wash your hair with hot water. I've only washed this twice so far and the color is still quite dark so I guess I'd recommend this brand.

My ears still look cyanotic though. ::shrug::

"process with heat"

what do you mean? I have never dyed my hair a dramatic color so forgive my stupidity on this one. :-)
lately, washing my hair w/ cold water is the ONLY way its getting washed at all. its been so damn hot!

After you slap it on put on a shower cap (or wrap your head with Saran Wrap) and get it hot. Either with a regular blowdryer, a bonnet dryer or (my fave) the big ol' salon thingie. The heat helps your hair absorb more dye.

Before you start rub Vaseline along your hairline and ears so stray drips won't stain. Try to keep it off of your scalp, too. Some dyes say to apply to wet hair, I prefer dry because it tends to absorb better. What ever you do, do NOT rinse the dye out in the shower. Take it from me, the run off will stain your entire body. :D The water will tend to discolor your tub or sink, too. I managed to stain our tub yesterday but I just filled it with enough warm water to cover the stain and dumped in some bleach. I let it sit while I went out and when I came back the color was gone. How bad it stains really depends on what your tub is made of, too. When I lived with my parents my Mom made me rinse out hair dye in the back yard with the hose. We had the only lawn with blue, purple and pink grass. :-)

I'm sure I could think of a million more. I'd just hate to see anyone else make the same mistakes I've made.... if someone doesn't learn from them, then I guess I dyed my entire body purple for no good reason. :-p~

If you've got any other questions just let me know.

I'm guessing you found many uses if not reasons for a purple body! ;-)

Lol... mainly as an exfoliant tester. Loofahs, scrubs, you name it and I prayed it would get the stain off before I had to be at work. XD
