She's STILL crying. She ate, passed out, and promptly started crying again when I put her down. We've picked her up and have done the bouncy-shush thing but she just keeps crying. She hasn't slept in hours so I'm thinking that's part of the problem. Poor unhappy woobie, I don't know what else to do for you :-(

Oh the poor thing, and her mommy too. The only thing I can think of that could lead to a baby crying that much and stopping her from sleeping is possibly colic or coop. Have you tried giving her some Gripe water or alternitively you could give her some diluted roooibos tea as a drink.
Other seed teas you could try (diluted) are Fennel, Dill, Caraway, Anise or corriander (cilantro). Are you breastfeeding?? Cause if you are some things you eat can upset through your milk such as cabbage or onions.. try an anti colic bottle cause they work wonderfully.

I hope she feels better soon :(

Oh, bless you for the gripe water suggestion! I found Colic-Ease, which has all the stuff you suggested in it but NO sodium bicarb. The first night we tried it she quieted down within ten minutes! :-) Now her crying jags are much shorter, thank goodness.
...and her burps smell like pickles instead of ass :-)

Crud. Been there, no sure-fire idea of what to do...

Do you have a (audio) tape recorder?
If so, tape her crying, then play it back to her. This tends to startle babies out of crying, according to behavioral scientists. BUT, never play back OTHER children crying, that stimulates them to cry more. Donno why, maybe it's some kind of affirmation to baby that it actually does have a reason to cry.

Kats advice is good, too, try that first. I don't own any tape recorders anymore, so I may just be "talking out of my ass", as Brody (from Mallrats) would say

That is the coolest idea. When Zoey gets irritated that Lilly's crying she'll imitate her cry back at her (she used to yell, but I made her stop :-) ) and that usually stops her for a couple minutes. It's like she's thinking, "What's *she* going on about?"
Some lady in the grocery store told me about a CD that's noise from like 4 different vaccuums or something and it's supposed to quiet them right down.
Thanks for the idea, and I hope you and yours are doing well!
