Yeah...I hate that pesky (as so and so said in his book blah blah) way of referencing in a paper...for me it kind of breaks the flow!

Good I concur. You aren't a school child, you are an adult that is consuming a product of higher education, and therefore deserve the best that they can provide. Any less than that is not on.
