Went to Melbourne today, and did the comic rounds. Seems that Alternate Worlds is moving locations (to Bayswater?!) and so I couldn't hit that one, but oh well? I managed a decent haul, in any case. Picked up the Red Robin Collections (1+2), plus a couple of the current ones (Red Robin #22-23), the latest Gotham City Sirens, and the latest Batman and Robin Reborn.
I decided to start Red Robin because hey, I was looking for something current to follow, and Red Robin has really only just started (I think we're up to 24 issues?).
I must say, so far I am loving this title. Great humour, Tim's internal dialogue is easy to follow and very entertaining, and he uses a good mix of intelligence and weapons skill that makes his stint as Red Robin very nice to read. I'm disappointed that I couldn't get the third collection of issues, because I'm really wanting to know what's going to happen next.
But yeah, Tim = very engaging protagonist and I'm sorry I missed his run as Robin. D:
Lol @ Stephanie, you're such a goof.
So far, I have had nothing but good things to say about this title, which is nice. It's well-drawn, interesting, and I liked the way the individual arcs have all linked together under Tim's grand mission to find proof that Bruce Wayne is alive. Though one did wonder if Tim was going the way of Jason...
I managed to get my hands on a copy of this month's Gotham City Sirens, and while I am devastated that Harley has regressed significantly into her Joker-loving ways (though this is the point) the emerging conflict between Harley, Ivy and Cats is bloody awesome. Especially since the incorrigible part of me ships Ivy/Harley because man do these two have chemistry in this series.
AHAHAHA the latest issue of Batman and Robin Reborn features my current favourite ex-Robin and all-round Bat-Family nutcase, Jason Todd. I love the interactions he has with Bats now that he's returned from death, and this issue really reminded me of Rorschach's line in Watchmen.
"I'm not locked up in here with you. You're locked up in here with me."
Dude, he even has the red hair to match.
As for next issue, all I can say is, fuck yeah, bring on more Jason Todd.
These issues have been rich on Bat-Fam interaction so I've been pleased.
