Just saw "All Our Yesterdays"
I have to admit, after all the porn fanfics I was expecting Spock and McCoy to be trapped in the past for a few days instead of just a few hours. Enough time for a quickie, I guess?
Also, the way Kirk disappeared through the portal it looked kinda like he was vaporized, so I don't think it was very smart of his friends to follow him. Loyal, but not so smart.
And as for the Spock/McCoy undertones... nothing in the script, or even the directing and the way the scenes were cut, would suggest slashiness. In fact, it was all about Spock/Zarabeth. But McCoy's expressions... the look of shock, hurt, anger, betrayal, and yeah, jealousy, were there (De was such a good actor.) Of course, it could be argued that it was hurt/betrayal over his best friend attacking him, telling him to give up hope, and almost staying behind on a planet he could never escape from (that's pretty huge, by the way, for ANYONE to nearly stay behind on a desolate world with no electricity, working toilets, and sub-degree temperature for some chick. I wouldn't do that for a guy I just met, no matter how hot he was. Sorry, your fate really sucks but my home has Replicators and Holodecks, bye.) Spock only knew her for a couple of hours.
I mean, I would feel the same way about my best friend. With someone that close, it would be difficult to lose them forever, leave them behind on a desolate planet, and have them ignore you for some stranger (although I would think McCoy would be used to it with the whole Kirk/Spock obviousness in TOS lol.) BUT, the hostility and bickering were upped to the tenth power, and I'm pretty sure I saw jealousy and an unnaturally strong reaction to seeing Spock with Zarabeth. Yeah, anyone would be upset in McCoy's situation, but he reacted so strongly to seeing them cuddle and coo at each other. He was so violently upset about the situation, and yeah, maybe he couldn't stand to see Spock falling in love with her. I wanted to give Bones a hug. : (
Now I want to write fanfic, but methinks this has already been done before: Spock's lowered inhibition + increased sniping + isolated in a strange world with possibly no hope of getting back = sexytiems. I also have other fics I need to work on, and two are already Spock/McCoy so...
It was an excellent episode, one of my fav. : )
