Zero Comes Clean.
My Lj is written in secret code. More accurately my diary is in secret code and so this transcript is also. I should perhaps of mentioned this a year ago but - frankly - it’s none of your fucking business eh? Who do you think you are?
It’s bothered me from time to time because - who’d a thunk it - I feel friendly enough towards some of you that it began to feel like lying. Or at least cheating. I’m not about to translate the whole LJ, but I figured I owe it to y’all before N5th to fess up to the fact - sometimes what I’m saying isn’t always what is being said.
A good clear (if marginally embarrassing) example of this - which I will share so you don’t think the whole LJ has been a sham - is from 2002.08.13 : My zero 38.5 fever. I quote:
"Whereas most people seem to get prickly and defensive when sick - I think since prickly and defensive is my natural state it makes twisted perfect sense that I should become vulnerable and over emotional when ill. As a result I spent my week in the gushy equivalent of the twilight zone."
Prickly, Spent (Old English), Gushy… I was in bed bored for a week, figure it out.
The sentence is also true without the subtext, but I like to write the "sensitive" stuff that way because it saves me from hiding my notebooks - and I’m a big fan of Joyce and wordplay in general - and I like to feel big-headed and clever.
