Tales from the Menagerie

Mar 28, 2009 18:09

I started cleaning my room today, and it sucked. I had to do my laundry. Found a whole bunch of socks, though. I finally gave up and decided to go to Rita's for some Italian Ice. I was gonna go to Sonic for dinner, too, but my conscience got the better of me and I went to Chick-Fil-A and got a salad again. Didn't want to totally void out the step class I took this morning.

Of course, as soon as I mentioned driving for pleasure, the Jet twins decided they wanted to come along. And because Masterpiece Starscream assures me they cannot go anywhere without a baby sitter, he insisted I take Skywarp along too. I couldn't believe he wanted me to take Skywarp of all mechs to be their sitter, but I was told he'd behave. Just to make sure, I told him that as far as he should be concerned, I'm the Megatron of this little outfit, and whatever I say goes.

So we all piled into the car. They made themselves comfortable on the passenger seat. That ticket on the front seat was Zerox's identifying tag while he was in the shop Thursday.

"What's Rita's anyway?" Jetfire asked.

"Rita's is a who, not a what," Jetstorm retorted.

"Actually, Jetfire is right. Rita's is an Italian Ice shop," I answered.

"Is that food?" they asked.

"Yeah. It's yummy food."

So we get in the car and we're driving and all of a sudden, Zerox goes "Beeeeeeep!" I'm like "WTH!? What is that?" I scan the dash, but nothing's lit up, and it's stopped. I smack the radio off and wait. And wait. And wait. So I think I'm in the clear.

"Beeeeeeep!"

AH! I drive the whole way to Rita's holding my breath waiting for the next beep, and he beeps five or six times by the time we get there. I get out and I check to make sure his passenger door is shut tight. Maybe Skywarp didn't pull it hard enough. But that wasn't the problem. So I grab my bag, and I'm walking around the back when I notice...his trunk was open. I figure I hit the button on the clicker by accident. So I shut it and apologize to Zerox for thinking he might have just been messing with me.

We were on the way to Rita's when some douche decided to stomp on the brakes ahead of me. I had to stomp on Zerox's making his tires squeal since it's been raining. But he came through like a champ, and skidded to a stop in plenty of time. Unfortunately, since they weren't strapped in, the twins fell on the floor. When I picked them up, the decided cuddling onto the only really stable one of them there was a much better idea.

"Allright, boys, we have banana flavored Italian Ice. Care to try it?"

"Of course!"

It wasn't as good as I was hoping, personally, but they enjoyed it. We sat in the parking lot and finished it off. I popped into Target for a minute to look for a new lanyard for my keys. (I need a blue one to match Zerox. The one I have is red, since The Beast was red.) I don't find a lanyard, but I do find something else. After finding this something else, I go to Chick-Fil-A for dinner. I'm idling in the drive-thru when I hear this clicking. My heart is all in my throat again because it sounds like it's coming from Zerox. Again, none of the guages are off, and there aren't any lights on. I know nothing about car maintenence, so I figure Dad will have to take a look at him later. I lean over to get my wallet out of my bag.

I notice the sound is louder when I do this. It's also coming distinctly from the passenger seat. I look over and Skywarp is smirking rather nastily. I shift Jetstorm a little bit and the clicking stops. Skywarp, the horrible little brat, was tapping on Jetstorm. Apparently he doesn't think I'm as threatening as Megatron. *scowls* He'll be punished somehow.

Jerk.

I'm a new car mommy! I don't know what's normal for Zerox yet, so the slightest thing sends my into conniptions. I knew The Beast. I knew when I hit the brake and the gas in too quick succession while going around a turn, she'd make a horrible thumping noise. I knew if it rained, her brakes were going to squeal for a few uses. I knew what her engine sounded like and felt like, and as soon as something was the slightest bit off, I knew it was time to get her looked at before the problem got worse.

Stupid Skywarp, making me worry like that.

But here's my special something else from Target! Sunstorm was in stock! He came with a little Ratchet, whom I've already put back in the room with the other Animated sparklings.

Animated Megatron is not so vocal about the fact that I have brought home yet another jet, another Starscream clone at that, but I see that burning look in his optics. I should have gotten him the G1 repaint Shockwave. In any case, I think I'll be sleeping with Movie Optimus tonight, just to be on the safe side.
