It's going to be one hell of a series finale next week. I enjoyed tonight's episode, especially Vic confessing his crimes and Olivia just looking in horror and most likely has nothing but antipathy for him now. Who can blame her, now that Vic sold out Ronnie, unless there's a backup plan he has up his sleeve. I think this instance highlights why Michael Chiklis is one of my favorite actors (If you don't want to watch seven seasons worth, then that scene alone shows that he can be a polar opposite of his role on The Commish. Also, while I thought the Fantastic Four movies were mediocre at best, I thought he was a great choice for Ben Grimm/The Thing; he's a comic book fan as well, you know.).
I forgot which entry it was, but one of you mentioned how the "antihero" archetype seems to have replaced the "knight in shining armor," one. That's postmodernism for you, heh. I suppose the most prominent example nowadays would be Batman due to The Dark Knight (for pop culture purposes), and in my entry, Vic Mackey from The Shield and Sons of Anarchy. It's an interesting mentality, and I've always liked it because we normally shouldn't be doing things similar to them. Yet, I think we cheer for them nonetheless because they are characters that take initiative when all else fails, even the "ideal hero." Sure, you all know I grew up on such characters in various media (Modernly speaking, characters such as Punisher, Moon Knight, Venom, Detective John Tequila, Paul Kersey, etc.). But I guess I've always failed to mention that I'm a closet fan of Captain America and The Flash, so there's a balance. :)
Anyway, next week is going to be pretty damn good for FX and its parent network, FOX:
*Series finale of The Shield
*Season finales of Sons of Anarchy and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
*Season premiere of 24: Redemption
On a lighter, yet nostalgic note, seeing a paycheck again will be fun, so I think I'll use a little bit of the $$$ to dispose
on this:
("lawl," at Charles Bronson's hair and Steven Seagal).
