I think in this case, if it was attributed to superstition, I think the black cat was good luck.
Just as I was driving back home, I had to stop in the middle of the road to let a black cat pass by. Had it not been for that cat, I would have been T-Boned from the right side at an intersection up ahead; yep, the jackass was a red light runner. It was a good thing I was able to see the car in advance, knowing he would not stop. That 1-2 second delay made a difference.
Best part? This was at an intersection where those red light cameras are installed (or will be, if I'm mistaken); it was the corner of Dixie Belle and Michigan. So if they are installed, the joke's on him.
