Well, quite a lot has happened in the past few weeks.
Yes, I’ve quit and I don’t have another job yet. It’s risky, but I have a few things in the pipeline. And y’know what? I’m not worried. I feel good about this. I’m glad to end nearly 10 years with the company at a time when it’ll screw them nicely. I’ve had lots of encouragement, even from some unlikely sources. So I know this is the right thing to do.
Now I just have to figure out how to break into voice acting…
Saw Fido, which I enjoyed tremendously. Billy Connolly as a zombie - really, how could you go wrong? Great stuff.
Then there was Heaven & Hell; or Black Sabbath, really. There were a handful of songs I was really hoping to hear that didn’t make it into the setlist, but as I said before, I couldn’t really be disappointed. They were SO DAMN GOOD from start to finish that even the one tune I’d hoped they’d skip (Lady Evil) had me rockin’ hard. And the new songs are great! Shadow of the Wind actually has mass. By my estimation, it weighs slightly more than the ass of 3 elephants combined. Tune is f**kin’ HEAVY.
Megadeth were also enjoyable, and probably would have been more so if they’d had more time. It seemed very brief. But the new guys are solid, the band as a whole was very tight, and Peace Sells in particular was awesome.
Also, I got my
smokin’ angels t-shirt.:D
Yesterday I was of course in rough shape following that, my neck in particular not being used to that level of headbanging anymore. I soldiered on though, and made it out to see the Sheridan crew for dinner at Rainforest. That place is f'n craaazy. A kid almost got impaled by a plastic elephant tusk - he deserved it too, the little brat. I had almost forgotten just how much I really missed those girls; hopefully these reunions will happen sooner than every two years. We all live fairly close to each other too, especially with Bananna now moving from Ottawa to Kitchener. Love it!
And tonight will be Big Red's birthday party. Don't know what the whole plan is exactly, but I know the Holkos and Bri & Sean will be there with us, so good times are bound to happen. Hooray for the weekend!
