Prompt: She aches just like a woman, but she breaks just like a little girl
Remus/Sirius
Remus lifted his head up, shaking strands of hair from his eyes, and gave Sirius a look. "Who is this?"
"What?"
Remus stood up from a box of his shirts that he had started to fold and tuck away into half of an old dresser. His face was smudged with dirt and dust and sweat from working in the August heat. The windows of the flat were thrown wide open, kept up by random objects (Yes, that was one of his good shoes holding up a window and, if Remus eyes didn't fool him, that was his shampoo bottle holding the other window open...).
"Is this Bob Dylan?"
"What if it is?"
"Sirius..." Remus had to climb over boxes of his own stuff staked all around Sirius Black's flat. It made him pause for a moment at the wonder of his things being in Sirius flat, but he shook that off quickly. Stepping out of the threshold to look down the hallway to the living room, Remus continued. "...do you know how old his song's are?"
"Bout as old as you?" Sirius had on a bandana and looked ridiculous. His black hair was sticking out in odd directions that made Remus want to dig his hands into those black locks and smooth it all out. Instead, as always, Remus picked up the nearest object - it happened to be balled up argyle socks, one of his older pairs - and chucked it as hard as he could toward Sirius head.
Sirius laughed and continued to sing along, and Remus lost his heart in his stomach. The sunlight that fell through their open windows was full of dust - making the sunlight that fell across Sirius glitter. Sirius skin healed an amber shine to it - showing the time he spent outside for the past week, just soaking in the sunlight to get that color. It wouldn't last - Remus knew - it never did.
That made his heart clench.
Nothing ever lasted.
"Hey, I loved these songs." Sirius shouted after a moment, picking up the case next to him and reading over the songs on the label. The light flickered over his eyes and Remus loved him. "I always will.”
He always would.
