God Dammit Sunrise.

I'm having such a nostalgia kick on Gundam 00.

That's ride, we're taking the time machine to 2007 this time.

The fucking potential they had, ruined. Assholes. What is it about Sunrise that they can't do a fucking second season to save their lives?

**Incoherent Rage!**SO MUCH POTENTIAL. RUINED ( Read more... )

gundam 00, nostalgia, rants, god fucking dammit

I disagree that "Let's stop war by fighting" is Gundam as you put it.

It may come up in more or less every show as "Let's end the fighting." But that's all local. As in, "Stop the Zeon." Or "Stop the Feddies" Or "Stop the Titans". Never "End all Wars with our actions."

Only Gundam 00 was actually "Let's end all conflict with fighting."

I know of the Innovators. I did watch Season 2 up to a point, and then kept following it until it ended. It was disappointing the entire way.

Like I said, I was okay with the battles being short, just because I wanted to see the bad guys [who kept striving to fight back] finally do it, only for DUES EX MACHINA. It wasn't just the SHEER gap in technology [We didn't bring it up, but it bothers me in other shows as well] that I dislike, it was the fact that BY THE GRACE OF THE GODS the Celestial Being are imbued with Trans-Am.

It was D.E.M. plain and simple. And I hate that so much, the idea of Dues Ex Machina just drives me insane.

Season 2 which you don't even want to get into

Because we were discussing Season 1.

OK, "let's end all conflict with fighting", yes this is the premise, the premise is celestial being is powerful enough (with a huge technology gap) to do it, this is just alike to Gundam Wing but taken a bit more to an extreme. This is supposed to be intriguing, but because you can't take interest in this right out; the whole show doesn't have hope for you.

And what do you mean? Season 1 is "Stop all earth factions" (which doesn't really work out now does it). then Season 2 is "stop the ALAWS", and then "stop the Innovators". If anything Season 2 fixed the problems with the show so I'm at a loss for how you could of liked it less.

Now say; "Deux Ex Machina", this is your POV, I didn't think of much in the story as being like this, more that in a show about powerful mecha there is the inevitable moments where the tables turn, there's a "power up" through the black box (even rx-78 had several). there is moments where the unexpected happens otherwise it's boring.

And I didn't get to this, the protagonists. I liked them. People are just seeing the Bishonen and yes, this is part of the point; 00 is like a more self-aware version of countless other shows like it. The difference is despite these characters being cool, they aren't so cool emotionally, they are very fallible, and these things are clearly explained, they didn't have oblique characterizations. I thought overall the series was brilliantly handled, it was a big departure from the recycled nature of previous Gundam while at the same time using the most classic elements of Gundam since UC.

A lot of what you said in the first point, it look like nitpicking to me, you just HATED this show, most of what you're saying isn't a valid complaint but the rantings of somebody that for whatever reason simply didn't like Gundam 00. And you're in the majority here; Gundam 00 didn't do well, hardly anybody understood this show. SEED was way way more popular; Seed gave people what they wanted. I guess I'm OK with a show that can make me a bit uncomfortable, be controversial and thought-provoking. But I suppose this is the difference between me and the fanboys who are just like YEH KIRA DESTROYS EVERYBODY IN THE JUSTICE FREEDOM WEEEEE-- Boring.

Don't misunderstand me, I hated SEED too.

Well good, because it was awful.
Though I liked some of the mecha designs, from a mecha fan perspective, it was torture to watch.

I agree. I still see Destiny as the worst POS to come from Sunrise in a long time.

I'm sorry that you seem my opinion as invalid. I disagree. I believe my arguing points are quite valid.

No, I think your opinions on these things are valid from somebody who hates the show, but these things in themselves such as some characters or little plot points aren't reasons the show should be considered bad. Even the shows I regard as the greatest have plenty of those.

I don't hate the show to hate the show. Anyone who knew me back when it was airing would attest that I wouldn't STFU about it. I loved the show originally.

I was just horribly let down by it. My reasons are why I now hate the show.

1.) Innovators were worthless and incompetent. For being Super-Human, they sure did get their ASSES KICKED HARD.
2.) A-LAWs were worse. LOL STAR WARS TRENCH RUN EPISODE.
3.) Character "Development" was an atrocity. Soma went from being this strong female character to the damsel in distress, fawning after Marie like some 17th century maiden. Mr. Bushido? Had Setsuna dead-to-rights, and let him go. Makes no fucking sense. "Oh it's is code of honor." Again, makes no fucking sense.
4.) CLONES. CLONES EVERYWHERE. IN SUICIDE SUITS.
5.) I liked the first 4 episodes. And then hated it from there on out. I liked how Setsuna was still in the Exia and how things were FINALLY on an even-playing field. And then WHOOPS NEVERMIND. Celestial Being AGAIN has a MASSIVE technological advantage, when it makes no sense to have seeing as the enemy were using the same technology.
