(Sorry for the rant, your post caught my attention!)

If the movie had ended the way you would have wanted it to end (with the aliens losing and humans winning), not only would that have looked bad for America (taking over other peoples' countries relentlessly) but it would have left the ending really stale, don't you think? I mean, it's rare that we see a movie without a happy ending in some way or another nowadays. Everyone always thinks it would be nice if the movie ended with total destruction, but when you think about it - bad guy attacks, good guy runs, good guy fights back, bad guy crushes them all and cackles maniacally at the ending"... It just doesn't leave for a very good ending.

It's like the ending of inception. Where it just sort of sits there and you never know what happens. Although Inception was a good movie and it's a completely different case, the feeling left behind would be similar. You would probably sit there thinking, "Well, now what?" Unless you're a war monger and cheer at the end because the "US Military rules" or something like that.

With the ending we were given, we know what happens. The aliens live happily ever after and Jake gets to be a perma-alien.

I agree with you though. The US Military would never just back down. Because the US government is full of tyrants that want their way :P I'm not a huge fan of the government or the way the US operates at all (super powers of the world are not my favorite thing. Probably a Canadian pacifism thing or something.) But, I dunno. Can you imagine the kind of backlash the movie would have received from all of the people that already hate the americans and their government and their relentlessness as is? That would be scary.

Then again, there is always freedom of speech. I suppose the producer is just chicken shit then, and would prefer to appease the general populace instead of the smaller group that disapproves of a weak-minded military.

Well, I didn't write the argument. I merely copied and pasted it from Cracked. I'm just ranting about how stupid the main character is, because of his direct action, caused all of the shit to hit the fan as a whole. o.o

But, /smack, that's the whole point of the movie isn't it?! xD

Wow, thanks for horribly simplifying the ending to an amazing movie and giving him an even more blindly incorrect opinion of it. He had already been a total fag and made an uneducated and entirely presumed opinion of Inception, prematurely dismissing it as garbage when it first came.

Now you go and make it worse by throwing out an example that looks terrible out of context. The point of that kind of ending in Inception was to invoke a response where you are left wondering and thinking about the events of the film long after you've left the theater.

When put your way, it just sounds like a complete middle finger to the audience by not giving them a clearly defined closure, and that's not true. The ending leaves the specific viewer the unique opportunity to reflect on the entire movie and decide their own interpretation of it.

Wow Paul. Just... just stop. Please?

You're jumping down her throat over a movie.

I'm jumping down her throat because it gives you an even more disgustingly closed minded and predetermined opinion of an awesome movie.

I'm not frustrated at her so much at you, since you're always so stupid about movies.

LOL you fucking think Predators was a good movie. But you immediately decide Inception is garbage with out ever seeing it first. That's what gets to me.

Thank you for your brilliant misunderstanding of a simple comment that was clearly made out of context. Asshole.

Jesus christ, Rob. You need better friends.

Inception was one of the best movies I've seen, first of all. Some inception fans are fucking crazy though, as clearly displayed above.

Go punch a baby. :\ I'm sure you'd enjoy that.

I'm more likely punch an angsty teenager, they'd know they just got put in their place. The baby wouldn't shut up and that'd just irritate me more.

Predictable misinterpretation of my reaction is predictable.

Simply put, I don't give a shit that you didn't write a glowing review of Inception within your comment, I was peeved because it was too simply worded with out enough context, that my expectation of Rob's reaction to it would be to reinforce his blind opinion of the movie. And since I had wasted my own breath trying to convince him otherwise in the past, all the more reason for my irritation.

Oh, now I need to go shotgun a baby in The Suffering: Ties That Bind

Later!
