{Priyanka_Sharma 12:08:27 PM} Thank you for contacting Dell Consumer Technical Chat Support for Desktop. Please give me a minute to review your question and in the mean time can you please verify the system shipping address and the telephone number.

{Will 12:08:42 PM} Greetings getting a YYGG error when computer boots. Read a post on your forums from several months ago where someone was having the same problem and was told to swap memory. I've done this and still get the same thing computer starts immediately with YYGG error turns off after about 4 seconds then turns back on again and stays on with YYGG. Dimension 4550. Any other ideas?

{Will 12:09:00 PM} I don't know the system shipping address and/or telephone number -- this is a computer store that the customer brought it to.

{Will 12:10:02 PM} For reference, if I power on the computer with no memory whatsoever, I get a GYYY code. But with the normal memory or new PC2100 memory, it's YYGG every time.

{Priyanka_Sharma 12:10:09 PM} Will I want the account information to pull up the account information .

{Will 12:10:44 PM} You can't pull the system info up with the service tag?

{Priyanka_Sharma 12:11:11 PM} I am sorry I want the information .

{Will 12:12:08 PM} That's great and all, but I don't have the information. I'm not the system owner -- I'm the owner of the computer store working on it. I have a business name and fax number. That's it.

{Priyanka_Sharma 12:13:56 PM} In that case I request you to please contact the customer and ask her /him for the information then only I can troubleshoot it .

{Will 12:14:14 PM} Could I be reconnected with someone who knows what they're doing? This has never been a problem in the past.

{Shikha 12:16:45 PM} Thank you for contacting Dell Desktop/All In One Inkjet Printer/Electronic and Accessories Hardware Warranty Chat Support. My name is Shikha , however you can call me Kate. Please give me a moment to review your query. In the meantime, may I have the address and telephone number to which the system was shipped at the time of purchase for verification?

{Will 12:17:07 PM} I don't know the system shipping address and/or telephone number -- this is a computer store that the customer brought it to.

{Will 12:17:16 PM} For reference, if I power on the computer with no memory whatsoever, I get a GYYY code. But with the normal memory or new PC2100 memory, it's YYGG every time.

{Shikha 12:18:28 PM} Will, I understand that however I am not authorized to troubleshoot without verification.

{Will 12:18:52 PM} OK... how about: [insert their business address that I found on a Google search.]

{Will 12:18:59 PM} That's the business address I have on file for them.

{Shikha 12:19:28 PM} Will, can you please verify in whose name is the unit registered?

{Will 12:19:35 PM} [Insert business name here]

{Will 12:19:44 PM} That's who brought it to me.

{Shikha 12:21:14 PM} Will I am afraid however the details do not match our records.

{Shikha 12:21:19 PM} http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4550/advanced.htm#1211091

{Will 12:21:40 PM} Yes yes, I've read this.

{Shikha 12:21:43 PM} PLease refer to above link for the diagnostic LEDs status and how to proceed with them for your help.

{Will 12:22:01 PM} What I'm asking is if there are any other options for what YYGG could be, since as I said in the very first question new memory is doing the same thing.

{Shikha 12:22:32 PM} Can you please verify the correct details for me to be able to troubleshoot the issue.

{Will 12:24:21 PM} Is this difficult to understand? I didn't think so. The name I have on file is []. It's a business computer. The owner could be one of a hundred people. If the computer would boot -- which it would if you'd tell me what the problem is -- I could give you the name it's registered to then.

{Shikha 12:26:16 PM} Ok, In the records we have it as a personal computer.

{Will 12:26:52 PM} Ok..

{Will 12:28:33 PM} That's great.

{Shikha 12:29:16 PM} OK

{Shikha 12:29:27 PM} Please follow the steps below to reset BIOS defaults and to clear NVRAM.
Restart your computer.
At the first text on the screen or at the Dell logo, press the key every three seconds until the message Entering Setup appears.
The System Setup screen appears.
Press the key, the key, and the key to light up all three lights on the keyboard.
Press the and keys at the same time.
The system will emit a beep tone to indicate that NVRAM has been cleared.
Press the and keys at the same time.
Press the key, and then press the key to save the changes and reboot the system.

{Will 12:29:37 PM} There is no text screen or Dell logo.

{Will 12:30:02 PM} The computer powers up for about 4 seconds displaying the YYGG error code. At that point, it powers off for a second, then powers back up with the same code immediately shown. It then sits there with no video at all.

{Will 12:31:40 PM} http://delltalk.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_other&message.id=219491 -- there's a post by someone else that I found who stated the exact same problem, and was simply told to change memory (which he said didn't work in his first post). That's the only reference to this I can find -- apparently I'm not the only one,.

{Shikha 12:32:13 PM} Ok

{Shikha 12:34:21 PM} Thank you for your patience.
