Overall I was very satisfied. This season was very ho-hum and they had left so much for the end I didn't see how it could all be resolved. Besides the Starbuck cop out, I was pleasantly surprised thanks to an hour dedicated just to the characters.
My biggest complaint is the last 10 minutes or so. Once Baltar was wrapped up, they decided to beat us over the head with what we already knew. Yes, this was our Earth. Yes, we descended from these people. Yes, it's up to us prevent the cycle from repeating again. Did it really need a superficial fast forward to the future with lots of robot footage to drive this home? (BTW, we've all got an eye on you, Japan.)
My favorite parts:
1) Tigh acting like Howard Dean in the strip club.
2) Is Tyrol gonna have to choke a bitch?
3) Evil/head Baltar returns!
4) Baltar's final moments (more on this below)
5) Rosalyn getting her mojo back after a little hot-for-teacher action
I thought the show should have ended with Baltar. Admittedly, I'm biased, but he was the one who started it all. His flashback with Six about what "a man does for love" was great and could have been the end but it got better:
"Cultivation?" - Six
"Yes. You know, I know about farming." - Baltar
"I know you do." - Six
[Baltar starts crying]
I died laughing! What a brilliant bit of dialog! Here's a man who rejected his backwater farming youth to become the brightest scientist in the colonies only to almost wipe out the human race due to an erection. In the last episode, he's critical to saving the human race and when they land on Earth they reject science outright to start anew. He had redeemed himself and was back to his roots. His character and humanity had come full circle. That should have been the end.
Things you will want to take a look at:
1)
Chicago Tribune discussion with Ron Moore, David Eick, Edward James Olmos, and Mary McDonnell.
2)
More of the actor interview (some overlap)
3)
Katee Sackhoff Q&A video from Portland during the next to last episode. It has some interesting tidbits. Wonder why Anders was on his ass for the whole season? He was in a car accident! In true Portland fashion, her tattoos come up and the audience boos when she says she's getting two of them removed.
