I had a big stupid grin on my face the whole I was reading this, just so you know.

Gosh, I loved your whole Scully and Mulder concept. I'm not really a X-phile, but that was brilliant. :D

And the Cinderella fairytale metaphor with Brennan makes me turn into a pile of goo.

YOU ROCK.

I actually know nothing about The X-Files, lol, but that's where the story wanted to go so I just kind of let it.

I'm glad the Cinderella metaphor worked for you. I was afraid it was going to be too much.

THANK YOU! You also rock.

oh yeahs, you used my favorite line as the subject line, which is awesome in it's own way.

"Don't you?" she asks, firmer than she'd intended. She softens. "You're always the one who tells me to think with my heart. It's-I'm giving this a try, Booth, and I think-I think this is what my heart has to say, so to speak. We live perpetually in finite moments. I hold on to things you say in the hopes that one day, I'll understand what's taking us so long. I'd like to ask you, but I don't think you understand it either. We should-I would like for us to learn this together, but…you've established this line, and well, you tell me that I'm not very proficient with metaphors. I'm not. I accept that I'm not. But everything around us changes and we're still here. You say these things to me, and they mean something, and every time, I think, this is it, maybe today, but we always fall back into our old rhythm."

I LOVED THIS PART, BTW.

Thanks girl, you know you're the awesomesauce too ♥

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. It's them; it's their way - not ours; it's romantic and true, and definitely not a fairy tale.

Frankly, there's so much I like about this - and so much I like about the way you wrote this - that I don't know where to start the "Brava!'s", so I'll just say, one: BRAVA!

Now I'm going to re-read and re-read and re-read, and just. keep. smiling.

Absolutely amazing. I love that Brennan is the one to make the first step over the line, I love the X-files references and this:

For them, there is no race and no timer, there is only a promise of happily ever after, and they have all the time in the world to reach it.

Their story will not end tonight, no matter how horrifyingly devastating his stay is. He will have chances to rectify his mistakes, should he make any. This is not a fairy tale. There are choices to be made and alternate routes to be taken.

was a totally unexpected conclusion to the fairy-tale theme, but I can't imagine a better one.

Thank you so much! I really wanted Brennan to be the one to bring it up because we typically imagine Booth being the "chaser," so to speak. I'm glad the ending worked for you!

This just made me sigh. In a good way. :) I love the references to Mulder & Scully, and that Brennan took the time to find out about who they are. And her little spiel about how it's right up Hodgins's alley. LOL Great story!

Thank you! I always wondered if Brennan would be curious what it meant. She knows her way around google, so I'm sure she's gotten around to it at one point. ;)
