God its been a while since i've written anything in this thing. I look at it once or twice a week but never feel inspired to write anything. But this morning i was compelled to share my thoughts I had in my car as I was driving to and from Walmart.
Guess a little background is needed first. I've been on a third shift kinda sleep schedule since mid June. I wake up at 3 or 4 pm and usually go to bed between 7 and 9 am. It just kinda slowly happened as I stayed up later and later for various reasons. My job is either in the evenings or early mornings anyways so it coincidentaly worked out well with that too. And despite the late wake up for your average person, I find this schedule actually keeps me from sleeping the day away in the sense that normally when i would go to bed at 3 am or so I would still usually sleep in till 1 or 2 pm. But I disgress...
What I have come to realize is my favorite times of day or evening around sunset and mornings around sunrise. Maybe it has something to do with the changing light of those times. And they are known as the magic hours. I was surprised to think of myself as a morning person. But really I am moreso only a morning person when I am already up. I do not like to wake up in the mornings. And I am strictly an early morning person. After about 8 am I really find nothing special about mornings. I pretty much hate mornings after 8 am. Another great aspect of mornings and evenings in Florida are the beautiful sunsets and sunrises (living on the east side of the state I see the sunrises over the ocean!) and the fact that the temperature is usually a lot nicer, usually in the mid to high 70s with a nice breeze. Mid day in Florida during the summer is like 95 F and 80-100% humidity. Yuck. Better to sleep most of that part of the day away in a nice, air conditioned house.
My car has needed an oil change for about 500 miles now, so this morning I actually used this time productivly instead of vegging out to infomercials and televangelists. I got to Walmart at 7 on the dot so that I would be first in line at the automotive center to finally get my cars oil changed. While they were doing that i picked up a few essentials such as milk (which I needed because my stocks of cereal and oreos were useless without it) and I found a DVD of an old 90s movie called Freaked which I loved as a kid. I also decided that the perfect music for early mornings is jazz. Which fit my belief that the perfect music for evenings is smooth jazz. And there IS a difference. I love jazz music. Having an XM radio is awesome becuz there is both a jazz and smooth jazz channel. Perfection!
