(no subject)

My mother tells me that if I read the bible I'll find strength and more reason to become Christian.

A man...is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. For man was not made from woman, but woman from man. Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. (1 Corinthians 11:7-9)

As in all the churches of the saints, the women should keep silence in the churches. For they are not permittes to speak, but should be subordinate, as even the law says. If there is anything they desire to know, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. (1 Corinthians 14:33-35)

Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of hte wife as Christ is the head of the church... As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands. (Ephesians 5:22-24)

It's not just Christianity, many religions spew patriarchy.

Male Orthodox Judaism DAILY prayer recital:

Blessed art thou, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, that I was not born a gentile.
Blessed art thou, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, that I was not born a slave.
Blessed art thou, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, that I was not born a woman.

Enough quotations, if you are interested you should read more about religious justification and legitimization of :
homophobia/heterosexism
partiarchy
mass murder
slavery,
it can all be found in abundance in the Old Testament, New Testament, and the Quran.

I know there is enough religion bashing everywhere you go, but when these religious people take office, it's a big deal. Organized religion and their affiliates can be a great thing for a community. However, they need to stay out of government unless they publicly admit their text is completely false when put into social legislation.

This is my response to the famous Katherine Harris quotation:
"If you don't elect Christians, you're going to legislate sin."
