My favourite song, by far, is "something i can never have" by NIN. It has been my favourite basically since I first encountered it, which would have been somewhere around 1994... so it has been a decade and a half.
One of my musical compositions from University the first time around was built around samples of that song combined with the sound of a rushing stream.
If you read the liner notes from the original packaging, there was originally going to be another verse at the end of the song... a verse which would have totally changed the tone of the song. I'm quite glad that particular verse got edited out.
One of the oddest groupings of talent has got to be Tori Amos, Trent Reznor and Neil Gaiman.
I'm not especially keen on playing the instrumental parts of the NIN songs on Rock Band... however, the vocal bits tend to be much fun. No, my favourite song is not among the playable songs. Yet. I hold out hope.
