The easy reply to the first request (Where am I from?) is: a link to a previous 100 odd entry.
The short answer that I tend to give out in real life is: Canada
The longer answer is: I am a prairie boy. Much of who and what I am has to do with my years of living in Saskatchewan. My love of and wonder at mountains and the sea. My skewed definition of what is cold and what isn't. My first real friends were there, as was my first crush.
Mind you, I would never move back there (on purpose, at least)
