ITP: Opening Move

First of all, a question:

Is this a joke?

[The feed opens up to a very serious man looking on at you.

Wearing the Gentleman trainer class get up.]

While I don't subscribe to the idea of having hallucinations moments before death this is just ridiculous.

...

Also if anyone would explain the true nature of this...

[...Yep. That's definitely a Psyduck. Somebody should warn this guy those are trouble waiting to happen. First things first, however...]

This isn't a hallucination. It's as real as wherever you were before you woke up here.

...hm. And how can I be sure of that?

[Because for all he knows, this could be just another side-effect of his near-death brain.]

You could always stick your head in the water and see if you run out of breath. A hallucination might change according to your will; this place won't.

[It does, however, have Golducks that tower over you and look like some kind of monster to who ever is watching the feed, just like his is doing. Rather silly thing, isn't it?]

[He's not joking is he...]

I see.

[He never jokes. Especially after living through something quite similar to what he just suggested.]

Your Psyduck, however--[Whoops! Pardon him a moment while he ducks aside from a duck-hug. It's a silly one, his Golduck.]--will evolve into this after a good deal of training. Hopefully yours is better behaved.

I assume from your tone that Psyducks are a nuisance before they... evolve?

[Such a weird and regular use of this word that this place uses.]

[A nod.] They generally don't do anything, but when they do, they're so confused that all they do for a long time afterwards is clutch at their heads.

Once they evolve, however, they gain better control of their abilities and act normally most of the time.

[Until they try to drown their trainers, anyway.]

...Just what I need.

[whatever he can deal with this...]

And you are?

You'll get used to it with time.

[Mostly everyone does. Especially if they're here for a while.]

Hitsugaya. And you?

Lelouch Lamperouge, that's my name.

[Bit of an odd name, if this one thinks on where he's from, but...well, he's one to talk.

Not that he's actually saying something about that, since that Golduck from before has managed to finally catch him in a hug from behind. Lelouch will probably immediately notice that the trainer is a good foot shorter than his pokémon, and this makes getting loose a bit tricky.]

You might want to watch yours after it evolves...they get ridiculous.

Not as ridiculous as yours, I hope.

[Still trying to get free over here, which sends the view kind of wild and lets Lelouch see that the Golduck is...grinning happily. Someone's in a good mood.]

If yours doesn't attempt to drown you, you're already better off.

My, that's rough of him.

[Clearly noting the Golduck's good mood.]

He simply forgets humans can't hold their breath for as long as he can.

[A good mood which lasts even after Hitsu manages to wiggle himself free and dusts himself off; not much phases this duck anymore.]

So, these Pokémon.

Are they this place's equivalent of pets?
