Quit looking at my screen and look at your own

There's not a lot you can do about people looking over your shoulder in public net cafes, and most of the time there are people who do this who can never take a hint that their innate curiosity about your online habits is neither appreciated nor desired. The broadband at home is on down time and I had to make do with the office net connection. I mean come on. Have none of you people ever seen a text based RPG before?

There's a computer store in SM Southmall that never ever sells you the specs they advertise. Back in the day it was known as Discovery, and I think they changed their name to Octagon. Anyway, we had techs take a look at our PC because of the broadband troubles and it turns out none of the specs on the original sale receipt was ever in our home computer.

Now that's just plain mean.

What surprises me, however, is how the seedier-seeming computer places almost always end up selling exactly what they say they're selling. I don't know if its something about being honest-to-goodness geeks that make them take pride in the fact that they'll assemble your system for you, or the fact that they do have suppliers who'll sell 'em anything they need at prices that allow them to sell 'em at the levels they do.

On that note, I found where I'm going to pick up my new laptop. Hooray for me.

do not buy from octagon, geekery
