i wish that love
was enough to put you back together.
sew your wayward canals + burnt bridges
patch the seawater spots in your vast disintegrating curtains of marshland + swamp
i have felt the hum of your thousand life forms
moving, chirping, as it all blends to a single om
a warm and living silent sound.
I was swimming in your endless marshes
when they were truly endless, in the time
before the great river was leveed, and i could feel the way
the mud moved when the dinosaurs walked upon it.
i was swimming in your broken curtain
the fragile veil of life overcome by nature's bruter forms
in the end we will have seawater
but no fish,
savannah but no tigers,
earth, but no worms.
