“Is it also true that you broke up with Dr. House -- a chronic pain sufferer who had developed pseudo-addiction issues as a results of his extreme pain -- because, after a commendable year and a half of sobriety, he took one Vicodin in a moment of emotional distress?”

This is an extremely leading question and shows the bias of the panel at this point.

(As a side note, if there was no problem with House taking Vicodin then should the panel be lauding his 'year and a half of sobriety'? Would they even call it sobriety?)

It was my impression that Cuddy broke up with House not because he took the Vicodin but because of *why* he took it. When *she* was in emotional distress (she was the one who might have been dying) she needed her boyfriend's support, he couldn't make it to her side to support her without taking drugs. He couldn't be there for her (for whatever reason), and honestly I can't see any relationship lasting like that. Cuddy had already expressed that was the reason, until the panel decided to disregard her own opinion.

Personally I disliked that they presented that scenario because I think House has that capability in him (which they later showed extremely well with Wilson) but that's what was written, that was what canon showed us.

Cuddy pulled herself together overnight, focusing again on how she had felt when House drove through her dining room, the sheer terror of wondering if he was going to kill her or her guests.

Thank you for remembering this. I really feel for Cuddy in these sections, having to be go through all this in agonizing detail, and being told how badly she treated the man who ultimately ended up committing such an act of violence against her. At the very least the panel could offer sympathy and an understanding of how difficult this must be for her.

IMO, House giving up his sobriety after a commendable year and a half and taking one Vicodin to overcome his immense fear of loosing Cuddy to be there for her, was the biggest gift he could give her.
Cuddy wasn’t the only one who was scared in Bombshells.
But selfish and egocentric as she is, Cuddy only thought about herself and not about House and what that cancer scare has done to him.

By the way, Cuddy knowingly started a relationship with a pain patient with pseudo-addiction issues and it’s nothing unusual that people with (pseudo-)addiction issues relapse.

Wilson never expected House to be there for him without taking Vicodin. So he had the most beautiful support anyone can wish for. Cuddy could have had the same. But no, she wanted perfect. Perfect doesn't exist.

And no, I don’t feel sorry for Cuddy.
She did this all to herself with her selfish and reckless behaviour towards House.
Why should the panel offer sympathy and an understanding to Cuddy when she didn’t have sympathy and understanding for House before, during and after their relationship?
What comes around goes around.
